Home Inspection Vault

Changelog

The notable changes to Home Inspection Vault, newest first. Each date is the day the change landed on the main branch.

  • Automation rules now run: the Automations page shows when each rule last ran, and the Clients page lists what ran for each client.
  • Notification emails for a paid invoice, a client opening a report and a rule that could not run are now sent to the account owner.

  • The free trial is described as what it is, 30 days, and the subscribe and billing pages show the price Stripe charges.
  • After a failed payment, a new card added in the billing portal pays the open invoice straight away, and the portal returns to the billing page.
  • A new inspection saves its type, duration and fee in one step, and the edit form checks the state and zip code the way the server does.
  • Templates can be edited and copied, the status page checks the service from your browser, a service can set the inspection type it books, and a repair list is marked sent only by sending it.
  • Inspections can be assigned to a team member: choose who in the new-inspection and edit forms, see it on the inspection, and filter the Jobs list by inspector.
  • An inspection’s Activity card lists what happened to it: when it was created, each status change, and when its report was published and delivered.

  • Today shows real numbers: today’s and this week’s jobs, outstanding and overdue invoices, what was paid this month, and the last seven days of activity.
  • Placeholder buttons for features that don’t exist yet were removed from Calendar and Templates.
  • An older version of a report tells the client when an updated version was sent.
  • The home page describes only the features that exist.
  • Links to /login in our emails open the sign-in page.

  • Reports and their photos are signed with the inspector’s key; a client’s browser verifies the signature before showing a report.
  • A report signed with a replaced key is held until the client accepts it, and the inspector signs why the key changed.

  • New public pages: About, Help center, Contact support and Security.
  • A Billing page under the user menu: your plan, its status and renewal date, and Manage plan for the account owner.
  • If a renewal payment fails, the Billing page says what went wrong and how to fix it.
  • The comment-assist placeholder was removed from the report editor.

  • Clients can lock their vault with a device password instead of a passkey.
  • After signing in, a task menu asks what you want to do; New inspection is easier to find.

  • An unmissable warning when you first see your recovery phrase: nobody, including us, can recover it.

  • Each client’s key is remembered per inspector; Sign & Send blocks when it changes until you choose Use the new key.
  • Photo captions are part of the encrypted report and are no longer stored with the photo.

  • Templates are filed per state, with a default per state; a new inspection picks its state first.

  • Photos and edits queued offline upload on their own: on app start, on reconnect, and when the tab is shown again.

  • Vault keys are per user and locked to a passkey on each device; a change of vault key is confirmed by email.

  • An expired session or a lapsed subscription during a save opens a sign-in or renew overlay instead of losing what you typed.

  • Edits the server rejects while you’re offline stay visible instead of being discarded.
